For this project I created one meme every day for one year and posted it to my website. The intent was that search engine bots might parse each image and then people outside of the project might find one of these memes in their searches and start using them in their own social media or blog posts. I was trying to create an opportunity for these works to live outside of the environment from which they were created.

The project was successful. I found many examples of people using these memes, one post utilized the "Needs More LED's" meme. I found it on a hobby car repair blog. It was used in reference to people installing LED's in their headlights.

This project started on February 9th 2012 and ended on February 8th 2013.

Each meme was created to fit into one of twelve categories. Each category had its own color scheme and followed three stylistic rules:

  • Every meme has a depiction of Lord Pomp, which is a pseudonym and stylized portrait that I have used for past projects, with the exception of Sumi, which is a photo of my dog.

  • Every background design will comprise no more than four colors which will be chosen by forming an acronym that highlights the name of that respective category.

  • The web safe color palette will provide the hues for the project.
