Forced Meme: Meme-A-Day
Needs More Glitter, May 17, 2012
This project started on February 9, 2012 and will end on February 8, 2013.
From Wikipedia:
"A meme is an idea, behavior or style that spreads from person to person within a culture. A meme acts as a unit for carrying cultural ideas, symbols or practices, which can be transmitted from one mind to another through writing, speech, gestures, rituals or other imitable phenomena. Supporters of the concept regard memes as cultural analogues to genes in that they self-replicate, mutate and respond to selective pressures."
In this project I will be creating an internet meme every day for one year. Please feel free to copy any meme on the page and use as you like. (Credit would be nice, but not required.) All of the memes created will fit into categories. Each category will have numerous memes created for it. A simple procedure will be used to compose the look of each category:
- Every meme will have a portrait of Lord Pomp, which is a pseudonym and imagery that I have used for past projects, or a similar archetype.
- Every background design will comprise no more than four colors and will usually be created from an acronym using the title of the respective category.
- The HTML color palette will provide all the hues for the project.
